HR Generalist
Contract position offering competitive, experience-based pay. Manage recruitment, onboarding, HR compliance and support. Best fit for pros with 3–5 years’ proven experience.
This HR Generalist position is a temporary contract role with competitive hourly compensation depending on experience. The employer is seeking candidates who can step into a challenging HR environment and make an immediate impact. A post-secondary diploma or degree, and between three to five years of relevant HR experience, are required. Professionals can expect a blend of administrative, recruitment, and compliance duties in a high-volume setting.
What You’ll Do Day-to-Day
You will oversee all aspects of full-cycle recruitment, ranging from writing and posting job adverts to conducting interviews and issuing job offers. Onboarding and orientation will also fall under your responsibility, ensuring a smooth start for all new hires. Part of your day involves keeping employee records accurate and secure, ensuring legislative compliance at all times. You’ll be on hand to advise managers and employees on HR questions, policy, and employee relations concerns. In addition, you’ll support initiatives such as performance management, policy updates, training rollout, and benefits administration.
Pros of the Role
A big advantage is the chance to fully utilize your HR knowledge across the entire employee lifecycle, which helps you develop into a well-rounded professional. The contract opportunity allows for immediate hands-on engagement without long onboarding periods. You’ll also have clear guidelines and support for legislative compliance, removing many of the guesswork barriers often found in smaller organizations.
Cons of the Role
Because this is a contract position, there’s no guarantee of employment beyond the agreed term. The expectation to manage multiple demands and priorities without error can become stressful for some. The role could also be limited to existing policies with less room for innovation or implementing personal ideas, which may be a drawback if you thrive on change.
Verdict: Who Should Apply?
If you’re a detail-oriented, proactive HR professional with the required experience and are ready to take on varied HR tasks, this is a promising opportunity. The mix of responsibilities and fast pace is best suited to those seeking professional growth and willing to deliver immediate value. If job stability and creative freedom are less important to you than skill development and exposure, this contract is definitely worth considering.
